  • Ein kleiner Rat

Sometimes when you know you want to do something, but have no idea how to, you should just ask the stupid questions. If you ask questions that an amateur should even know, you will look stupid, it's as simple as that. But that's not something that should be avoided, it should be embraced! If you ask these stupid questions to those that know more about it, they can either explain it or they won't even understand what you're asking them. If they don't understand the question, that's probably their lack of understanding: what you're asking of them is so simple to them that they don't even think about it anymore. And if they do answer, even if it makes you look dumb, you're not as dumb as you were before.

basically, when you get into a situation where your knowledge fails you, accept that you're basically an idiot and grow, instead of avoiding that label and staying that way.

Also, if you're looking for a motivational quote, here's an original one:
If you deserve anything at all, you deserve yourself, so give yourself your all.

  • Ich wünschte, die Menschen würden mehr wissen über...

The fact that the EU is about to sign off all rights of internet freedom to the EU government, going so far as to put a tax on links (as in, you won't be allowed to source things without paying for even sourcing it). no i'm not making this up. https://saveyourinternet.eu/

I know how stupid these attention grabbers are, and i'm sorry for that.

  • Ich rede immer gerne über...

I always enjoy talking about deep topics, like how ideas are formed, what drives interest, stuff that leaves me wondering. I also really enjoy talking about fantasy stories and mythology. I'm also really interested in different kinds of languages (alphabetical, alphasyllabary, Hangul) and why and how they formed, and how they work.
I'm very new to this platform but send me a message if you want to talk, and maybe we can become pen pals 🙂

By the way, if you find me on my own in the main chat, that's because I leave that open in the background so I can keep track of conversations. The main chat completely resets whenever you back out and come back, so I just never really leave. Feel free to shoot me a message though, I might be online.

  • Ich bin ein Experte in...

I'm ridiculously good at chemistry if you ask a high schooler. I have no idea how I compare to actual professionals but I definitely know what I'm talking about.

  • Etwas, das du der Welt erzählen willst

If people stopped complaining so much about what they deserve, and look over and fix the little things in their own world, their own sphere of influence, I think the world would be a much better place. To not see the forest through the trees is a common phrase, but you'd be amazed at how many people, completely obliviously, use that phrase while their lives are engulfed by loose ends, waiting to be tied.
Start small, get an eating rythm going, clean up your room, and maybe then you'll be ready for the more complicated stuff, or at the very least you'll have the clarity of mind to even try.

  • Ich bin begeistert von...

I'm very enthousiastic about plants, fungi, mythology, psychology, chemistry, and fantasy. I'm currently working on my own fantasy universe when I'm not studying applied science.
Some of this stuff is on my tumblr blog: https://plants-in-my-bedroom-aestethic.tumblr.com/

  • Lieblingsbuch/-autor/-film

I liked reading Farenheit 451, 1984, brave new world, The Infernal City (Greg Keyes) and Lord of Souls (Greg Keyes). Beside fiction, I'm also quite a fan of informative books and analyses, such as Mythos (currently reading) and The origins and history of conciousness (yet to begin reading). I can't bring up a lot of other non-fiction books that I really enjoyed, but I can remember just reading through encyclopedia, so yea... I also recently read Notes From The Underground, and The Gulag Archipellago, and while they're great reads, I don't think 'enjoyable' is the right word.

My favorite movie is probably interstellar, or the martian.

  • Für ein Jahr im Ausland leben

If I had the chance to live in another country for a year, I think I'd go for New Zealand, or Iceland. I would be head over heels for Iceland if like half of the year the country didn't get 3 hours of sun per day haha.

  • Meine größte Errungenschaft

I'm probably the proudest of where I got myself now. Two or three years back, I don't think I would have recognized myself now. The last two years were very turbulent, and I think that after years of lagging behind socially, I'm finally up to speed 😃

  • Mein Interesse an anderen Kulturen

I am interested in probably every culture, but not in the way someone is interested in art. I love finding out how things work, why certain things work in certain ways, how language evolved, and how that in turn gave shape to culture. When I look at culture, it's like seeing a whole garden: if you look past the flowers and the fruits, you'll also see the process that gave birth to all that, the steps that were taken to become what it is now.

  • Persönliche Fähigkeiten

I can recognize a lot of wild herbs and fruits, and even some edible mushrooms 😃

  • Städte und Länder, die ich besucht habe

Back when I was little, me, my little brother and sister, and my parents visited Curaçao on the ?th anneversary of my grandparents' wedding. It was a really cool holiday, and apparently all the restaurants we went to were amazed by the three of us because we were the only kids there who didn't go for fries and a burger, but instead for shrimps and stuff. I think I learned to like spicy food there.
In later years it was mostly just somewhere in southern France, by car. Still very nice though. I went to India and Nepal once on an extracurricular activity with several friends from school, and I went to London just last summer!

  • Eine persönliche Herausforderung

Reading a harder book every time. Right now I'm working on Mythos by Stephen Fry, and after that I'm going to read a dutch book about the old norse gods, and after that I'm planning on reading The Origins and History of Consciousness.

  • Ich bin besorgt wegen...

The future of the world, in general. Not something political or anything, but a LOT needs to happen to our lifestyles to sustain a healthy system. 7 billion people on this earth is way more than it could normally sustain, and unless it gradually goes down (which will burden younger generations a lot since they'll have to sustain more elderly per person than now) it'll go down in one fell swoop. It's like, there's no single country working on 'leveling out' their age distribution graphs, it's all about expanding. Someday, the world is just going to be full, and it's either going to be a soft landing which requires co-operation to stop the exponential increase of the human population, or it's going to be a huge crash.
